Formed in 2014, Lossiemouth Community Development Trust (LCDT) is a Scottish charity based in Lossiemouth, on the beautiful Moray Coast.
Our projects focus on place and infrastructure in the town. We support the regeneration and improvement of facilities in Lossiemouth, and we support other community groups who seek to to the same. Find out about our projects.
We are an independent community-owned and led, membership organisation, governed by a voluntary board of trustees. We have two part-time staff and are supported by a team of cheery volunteers. Would you like to get involved?

🙏 On behalf of the community, LCDT have applied for £50,000 from Moray Council's Coastal Communities fund.
🪨 If successful, the money will be used to install rockbag sea defences and repair the footpath along the worst-damaged 20 metres of the frontage; the first real step towards getting this stretch of coast back.
But 20m is just the start. We will continue to seek public and private funding to secure a wider area and protect access to the beach for generations to come.
💪 We know how important West Beach is to everyone that loves Lossie, for the views, the walks, sea swims, watersports, the café and the golf. Last time round, this project won the most votes in the community ballot. Let's do it again!

* Background
Following sustained damage, Moray Council closed the West Beach Car Park in December 2024, later announcing that they will not renew the lease in January 2027, risking permanent closure.
Since then, LCDT has been leading the community response, working with Moray Golf Club & Pro Shop, Lossiemouth Community Council and other stakeholders, and with the support of the landowner, to secure the area and regenerate it for generations to come.
We have carried out community consultation, raised awareness through media and events, raised funding, commissioned specialist engineers, surveyors, architects and other consultants to develop a credible response to securing and regenerating the area.
